Fellow 49ers,
First, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your belief in me to be your next Student Body President. Jacob Pierce and I are truly blessed to have been afforded this opportunity. It was your concerns and your wishes that kept our campaign running, and it would not have been possible without your help. I wanted to tell you a little about what will be happening in the upcoming weeks as Jacob and I are sworn into office.
The primary short-term goal of the Lemons-Pierce administration will be to ensure a smooth transition from the Cone Center to the Student Union. SGA’s voice in the process has proven crucial thus far, and will be needed even more once the Union opens. Our long-term goal is to do all we can here and now to make sure the University is left in better shape than we found it so that students years from now may enjoy it as much or more than we have. This vision encompasses a myriad of different issues; from University identity and branding to sustainable growth and environmentally sound practices, our administration will be responsible stewards of our campus, its resources, and its name.
Now elected, we want to continue hearing your solutions for the betterment of the University. On April 23 from 12:30 until 2:00, come meet your newly elected SGA officers and members as we will hold a town hall meeting at the Belk Tower. This will be a great way for all of us to meet and discuss the bright future of UNC Charlotte.
Also, I would like to add that I will be appointing cabinet positions in the coming weeks and applications are available in the SGA complex, and will be due by April 24th to the SGA Administrative Assistant. I look forward to working with a strong team in the next year, and encourage you to consider picking up an application. If you are interested in joining SGA, or are a returning member, the Executive Cabinet is a great way to leave a lasting impact here at UNC Charlotte. Thank you for your encouragement and support, and let’s keep Moving Charlotte Forward!
Cordially,
Joey Lemons
Student Body President-Elect
