My first Board of Trustees meeting is coming up this Friday and I’ve started making a list of the initiatives I want to report on:

4.    Goals for the Upcoming Year
    a.    Three Main Areas of Action
        i.    Raise Profile in the Region
            1.    SGA Voter Registration Drive
                a.    Coordinate with move-in and RAs
                b.    Significant presence during WOW
                c.    Increased # of registered voters will enable us to draw                               more political events to campus such as debates and                                speeches
                d.    Increased clout among city and state legislators
            2.    Thank local retailers for carrying 49er Merchandise
            3.    Attend City Council Meetings
            4.    Strong representation at UNCASG and ultimately at the NC                        Legislature
        ii.    Prepare UNC Charlotte for Future Enrollment Goals
            1.    Determination of a policy that respects the rights of smokers                    while limiting environmental tobacco smoke
            2.    Researching and planning for a new Rec Center
            3.    Study utilization of classroom space on Fridays and Weekends
            4.    Student organizations ran out of money in 2006-2007 because                    of the increased activity of student orgs,
                    a.    25% increase in amount of money spent by students                                 with only 94 out of 243 student orgs requesting money
            5.    Campus Safety
                    a.    Researching brighter campus lights through                                                implementation of White LEDs
