    Welcome to Niner Nation!

As you stepped out of your car and on to the campus of UNC Charlotte you became a part of one of the fastest growing schools in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. During your time at UNC Charlotte you will be a special part of building the tradition of what will one day be the largest school in North Carolina. Building the tradition means experiencing what the campus and the city have to offer.

You are very fortunate to be going to the only UNC school located in one of the largest cities in the US. Charlotte is now the twentieth largest city in the nation, and continues to grow rapidly. The advantage of living in a city like Charlotte is that there is so much to do all the time. On the  campus of the 3rd largest school in North Carolina the Campus Activities Board (CAB), over 22,000 students, 243 student organizations and consistently winning athletic teams ensure that there is always something within walking distance for those living on and around campus.

When you get ready to explore the city there are plenty of options as well. North Davidson (NoDA) is continually growing into a great arts district with fun food, music and festivals. Charlotte is home to many sports on many different levels. Tickets are definitely affordable for college students with single game tickets for the Bobcats and Checkers only around $10. There are frequently events and festivals in the uptown area and students get discounts to performing arts.

When classes start in the fall get out to the Week of Welcome (WOW) events, the Student Organization Showcase and rush events from Greek organizations. A sure way to succeed academically is to get involved in the university and the community as a whole because there are always programs, staff and faculty that want to help you succeed. As always if you have any questions come by the SGA office in the Cone Center to meet the individuals that have devoted their year to making UNC Charlotte a stronger place for every student.

    Sincerely,

    Justin Ritchie
    Your Student Body President
