Part of the plan that Tim and I have for UNC Charlotte lies with raising the profile of our student body. A lot of that has to do with strong representation and communication with UNCASG, the state-wide student government organization which lobbies for UNC Charlotte on a state level. Also, UNC Charlotte will be represented at the United States Student Association Congress which is being held in Pittsburgh, PA this year. Lance Tackett, the Secretary for Special Committees will be attending from our campus. Lance has a solid history of experience with lobbying and student government on a national level and he is a great representative for our students.

But there is more to raising our profile than just being represented. We must also gain clout with local and state political leaders. The best way we can do that is through SGA’s Voter Registration drive at the start of the year. Our goal is to get a minimum of 3000 new students registered to vote on UNC Charlotte’s campus. A campus that usually has incredibly poor voter turnout. With the help of the whole of SGA and with the fast growing student body I know we can exceed our goals for this upcoming year.
