My world was rocked to its foundation today as I learned about my colleague at UNC-Chapel Hill, found shot and killed apparently due to a random act of violence regarding a carjacking. I found out early this morning because Tim (my Vice President) has a sister at UNCCH and she called him as soon as she found out… the first of a barrage of calls from administrators and students across the state, a testament to how truly tight knit the UNC system is.

Eve was the ideal student leader and I had worked with her throughout this year. She was someone that all 16 other student body presidents in North Carolina aspired to emulate in the devotion to our work.

Even though it may seem insignificant in spite of this overwhelming tragedy, the UNC Charlotte SGA will be sending flowers and a card to the members of the Chapel Hill SGA. If you have any other ideas on how we can mourn here at Charlotte or ease the pain of our neighbors, please post suggestions in the comments section.

North Carolina and our generation has lost an exemplary leader today.
